Ohio Sports Collectors Convention

Posted By: Paul Fusco
Fusco Auctions will be sponsoring one of the best vintage sports card and memorabilia hotel shows in the country this year. April 11-13th at the Strongville Holiday Inn in Strongsville, Ohio. This is the site of the Greater Cleveland Sports Collector show which went defunct about five years ago. Currently we have some of the country's best vintage sports card and memorabilia dealers coming to the event from over 17 states and Canada. It is a 120 table show with it's primary focus being VINTAGE sports collectibles. We may have one or two new card dealers at the event for those folks looking for the new stuff but the balance of the dealers in the room will have primarily vintage material. The show will be an annual event, every April. God willing that is. The Cleveland area can certainly support one large vintage show every spring and deservedly so. Autographers that will be appearing over the weekend include Rocky Colavito, Dante Lavelli, Dick Schafrath, Reggie Rucker and Handford Dixon. This will be a once a year chance outside the National for collectors in and out of the Cleveland area to come and enjoy a weekend with the best hobbyists in the country! Hope to see you all there. Only $4 daily admission and free parking. So no need to drop $30 before you get in the door.

Please Note: In contrary to the rumors spread at the Reading show, this show has not been cancelled. Please check out the show show website at www.ohiosportscollector.com for more information

Posted By: Paul Fusco
The focus of the show is pre-1969 material but there will be a very large amount pre war material in the room I'm sure. If you check the show website at www.ohiosportscollector.com for the list of attending dealers you'll see a great line of vintage card dealers.

Posted By: Paul Fusco
We do not have either SGC or PSA coming to the show. We tried to get one or both to come but both declined. We, of course, think they are missing the boat but I'm sure they will want to be there next year after they here what a great success the show was.

Posted By: Jantz
For SGC & PSA that is. I was planning on coming Friday & Saturday. I already purchased a card for Mr. Colavito to sign and was looking to have it slabbed. I also have about 30 pre-war cards that I was wanting to have graded by SGC. I am still excited about the show anyway, but this would have been a nice bonus for the collectors.

Thanks for the updates,
Jantz

Posted By: Paul Fusco
Yes it is too bad, as it would have been nice for the collectors coming to the show. With the largest vintage show in Ohio this year, I would have thought one of them would have wanted to be there. Hope to see you at the show.
