OT; Spoke taking BP or what?

Posted By: Steve
I realize this image has been ping-pong'd ad nauseum throughout this board's history. Anything definitive or new discoveries learned in regards to this picture.

We know Speaker played in the Texas and Sally leagues as a youngin' and called up to play (poorly) a few ML games in between. I've had no luck finding examples of his Minor teams uniforms... Any images out there, of Boston's prospects/rookie camps from this era (1907-1909)?

I reckon this port. shows a partial uniform of young Tris in his minor uni and helps the case that this is he at bat. The very large stadium is a tough one to figure as it doesn't resemble Huntington Ave Gds. I do believe the Sox held ST in Arkansas around this era.

Anyone new notions on this image?

Posted By: Mark L
Do you have any info on the portrait? Could it be a picture from his college days? I can't see the photo very well but I don't understand how the white lines on the ground are laid out. and can you tell from the photo if he is standing on home plate, hitting balls into the 3rd base dugout?
