Colgan's variation

Posted By: <b>John S</b><p>I noticed this when sorting some of my duplicates. It is not quite as easy to see on the scan but "Woods" and "Buffalo" are different between the two examples. The lines in the letters are thinner on one of the cards and the "W" in Woods on the thinner lined example is larger than the other "W".<br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1202334740.JPG"> <img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1202334762.JPG"><br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1202334798.JPG"> <img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1202334822.JPG">

Colgan's variation

Posted By: <b>Joe D.</b><p>when burning a plate.... the way the plate was exposed - stuff would get 'fatter' like this. People would actually do it on purpose when needed.<br />It was more mechanical back then (not computer automated like today) - so I would guess the likelihood of an overexposed/underexposed plate was greater.<br /><br />so it could be the same everything - but just the way the plate was made.

Here are some others (some are catalogued and some aren't)<br />-Rhett<br /><img src="http://www.starsofthediamond.com/e254fieldpair.JPG"> <img src="http://www.starsofthediamond.com/e254frommepair.JPG"> <img src="http://www.starsofthediamond.com/e254hallapair.JPG"> <img src="http://www.starsofthediamond.com/e254murphypair.JPG">
