WG6 Tom Barker Fenway Ale display
Posted By: leon
In the recent Leland's Auction I picked up this box to go with the cards...My understanding is there were the Baker and Scorecard that had the Fenway Ale overprint and the rest were regular Tom Barker cards with players etc....I was very happy to obtain the box to go with them....regards

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Hey Leon, I just realized our Scorecards are different. Yours has the "hands" of cards while mine is a little more plain (both however have the "Fenway Breweries" Red Printing)...

-Rhett

Posted By: Peter Thomas
I had never noticed the Porter Lager notation. This probably is a reference to Porter Sq. Cambridge where there was an old brewery building and also a stop on the T North of Harvard Sq. and West of Summerville. The Fenway reference needs no explanation.

Posted By: Todd Schultz
porter could be a reference to a type of beer sold by Fenway Brewery--Ale, Lager and Porter.

BTW, the player on the box and caught stealing card sure looks to be wearing a Yankee uniform. Hal Chase? the best player and base stealer on their team at the time.

Edited to add that Chase was on the White Sox in 1913, but the Yanks in 1912--still kinda looks like him though. His regular Tom Barker card shows him on the Sox, whom he didn't join until June.
