Posted By: fkw
Good price on the Demmitt.

If Im not mistaken, It seems like not too long ago you could get the Magie for $10K in a PSA-4.

Polar Bear Demmitt is not in the class of the Magie, but the gap is narrowing.

T206 Demmitt...

Posted By: T206Collector
...I was anticipating when I dumped 400 of my T206 cards in order to pick up my Plank and Magie. Soooooo many people are trying to put together T206 sets, given the ease of finding most of the set on ebay day in and day out. But sooooo few of the true rarities actually exist, let alone in as good condition as this Demmitt. I believe part of the softness in the T206 market is attributable to people's expectations for the rarity of the common cards coming closer to reality. When you start going after T206, you think, "Wow, these are so old, they must be really rare." But they really aren't as rare as you'd think. And when you learn that, it makes you go after the next tier of rarities, including southern leaguers and rare backs and eventually, O'Hara and Demmitt ...and then, with careful planning or adequate resources, Plank and Magie....... then..... only if you add luck.... Doyle and ....ta da.... WAGNER!

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: Paul S
Steve -- he has some fine print near the bottom of the listing stating that there are actually 7 graded higher. Don't know if that would have made a difference to the buyer.

Posted By: MVSNYC
T206Collector- i agree with your thinking...i dumped about 200 low-mid grade HOFers & commons a few years back to pursue extremely rare backs and variations and high-grade SLers, etc. i've streamlined my collection even further and shifted a few things around recently to prepare for Mastro's & REA...

as Jay Wolt once said: "we do not own these cards, we merely hold onto them for awhile"...
