Registry Question / T205 Master Set Added! Thanks SGC

Posted By: Matt E.
With things heating up on the T205 SGC Registry, I was wondering why SGC does not include or recognize the variations? I know this request had been made numerous times but no additions to date.

Please no chiming in on how ugly you think the 1911 gold borders are. This set is ready to take off big time. I would like fellow T205 collectors to voice their opinion.

Are there any variations you would like added for the set(s) you are working on?

Posted By: Harry Wallace (HW)
Jeff, those are a couple af beautiful T205s.

I personally consider the "main" set complete at 208 cards. I do not see what card SGC counts as the 209th.

The remaining variations (Moran, Leifield, Wilhelm, Gray, Doughtery, Hoblitzells, etc.) are more like error cards and I consider them part of the "extended" set. I like these error cards, but I do not think that they should be considered part of the main set.

There was a good article on the T205 set in one of SGC's magazines.

Posted By: Matt E.
Harry, Yes I agree some are errors. However, I just want SGC to recognize what is listed in the 2007 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. They encapsulate them when they are presented for grading, so it should not be too difficult to add a few extra lines of text to the SGC Registry page.

Not sure what the down side is? In my opinion it makes it more of a race to the top and few more cards now become even more desirable in SGC holders.

Mabe the real question is why does PSA have them listed but not SGC.

http://imageevent.com/babybingbaseball/forsaleortradepage;jsessionid=1x0g46r0s2.buffalo_s

Posted By: leon
That little white spec on the lower left corner of the Cobby saved you about 15k-20k.....Personally, if I was collecting high grade this is the grade (ex-mt) I would collect. To me it has the most bang for the buck. (I know there are tons of debates about subjectivity, but I am speaking in general).....that is a great card....

Back to on topic....SGC has been very receptive to good Net54 board ideas, especially lately......That can't be a bad thing when you listen to your customers about easy operational fixes......I have seen so many companies ignore easy fixes it makes me sick (well not really, but metaphorically speaking)....regards

edited typo

Posted By: Scott M.
It is great to see SGC being so responsive to collectors requests lately.

Now, if there is a way for someone at SGC to move my T205 set over from the "basic" to the "master" set so that I don't have to retype everything in from scratch and can just add the additional 11 cards in the master set then I will be a very happy customer!

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Leon, I agree. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a 6 and a 7 in this issue -- except in the exponential difference in price.

Posted By: Matt E.
It will be intersting to see how many collectors from the original T205 SGC Gold Border Registry will move their cards to the Master Set side. It is not too often you can say you reached the top...... until Bill C and Scott M. arrive.

Thanks SGC for making this collector happy.

Posted By: Russ Bright
well, it's a start, but their power rankings are pretty off... the Cobb is a 10 and the Hobby no stats is a 12? Moran stray line 4? Wilhelm 2 and 5? - yeah... anyone actively collecting the set can tell you that all you need to get a cobb is money - and sometimes all the money in the world can't get you a hoblitzell no stats... or a wilhelm...

I had 5 grand that i posted on the board asking for anyone with leads on a Hobby no stats (and offered to pay a finders fee) and there wasn't one to be found... i would have paid that much in ANY condition.. now I don't hve the money anymore.. but still...

the 208 cards set is pretty easy to complete (i did mine in just about 6 months) the variations are what maked the T205 fun - thanks to SGC for adding the rest of the master set to the registry!

Posted By: Jimi
It took me about 45 minutes to make the switch over to the master set last night and it was updated by SGC today. Last I checked, only Matt and his son, Turner and I are the only 2 sets so far in the new registry. Thanks, SGC! They're getting there!

Jimi
