Posted By: <b>J Hull</b><p>Anybody who’s spent time looking at T206s has seen oversized or off-center or miscut cards that have the name and team printed at both the top and bottom edges of the card. Or sometimes only at the top. In the overwhelming majority of cases the name at the top is the same as the name at the bottom. Cards which have a different name at the top are pretty darn rare. But how rare? I recently picked up these three examples. <br /> <br />Atz – has Hoffman, Providence at the top. <br />Hoblitzell – has Stephens, St. Louis Amer. at the top. <br />Abbaticchio – has Cicotte, Boston Amer. at the top. <br /> <br />Anyone else have any other two-name different-name T206s to share? Or are they as rare as they seem to be?<br /> <br /><img src="http://jimonym.com/trio.jpg"><br />

Posted By: <b>T206Collector</b><p>I think the conventional wisdom is that T206 were cut into strips, same player top and bottom, except for the Super Prints and Pirates. Other than the Abbaticcio, a Pirate, the other two cards fall outside of expectations.<br /><br />They are, indeed, very rare.

Posted By: <b>Anonymous</b><p>hello<br /><br />i saw one before, mcgraw,can't remember the other player...i lost it in an ebay auction..they are rare, might have been proofs or sample sheets that were factory cut...all i have seen are factory cut, and none seem to be hand cut indicating a proof sheet...<br /><br />in any case, iam am looking to purchase one if anyone is interested in selling one?????....

Posted By: <b>Matt</b><p>I think it's fascinating how all these mistakes (horrible miscuts/overprint) would get the card a qualifier and kill the value on a post-war card, but they are actually desirable on pre-war cards. It's a good lesson on what creates value.

Posted By: <b>Matt</b><p>T206 - now you have me confused - if all the other players were printed same player top and bottom, and only players on the Pirates were printed with each other, how would you have this example of a Pirate with a non-Pirate? Shouldn't that non-Pirate only appear on strips that are solely of him?

Posted By: <b>T206Collector</b><p>....a theory about the Pirates is that they were Super Printed because of their on-field success. That is why, so the argument goes, you see Phillipe on the card above another player. And, perhaps, why you see Abbaticchio share a card with another player. But the non-Pirate/non-Super Prints both break that theory. As does the Waddell/Delehanty example posted above.<br /><br /><br /><br />
