Posted By: Paul
I thought I'd start a new thread with this scorecard from about 1945. The text on the inside is a little fuzzy because I had to compress it to post the images. But it includes a very nice story of Pete Gray's career. The "Barnstorming Colored Giants" roster had no names that I recognize, but several players are listed as members of Satchel Paige's All Star team.

Posted By: Chris Bland
Danny,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am pretty sure the M101-5s you picked up are reprints. If you look at the space between the inner border and the image, the gap is much larger than it should be on a true M101-5.

I am not positive though - maybe someone with a little more experience could give their opinion for you...

Posted By: Al C.risafulli
I don't post in these pickup threads nearly enough.

Here's a cabinet card of Eddie Collins from 1906, when he was a student at Columbia. If anyone here was a prior owner of this item, and you know more about it, I'd love some more info. Clearly the mount was trimmed away from the photo, but the image is stunning.

-Al

Posted By: Dan Bretta
That cabinet came from Hunt's. I just assumed you won it there. Did you get it off of ebay?

A couple of months back (July?) they had 3 scrapbooks that belonged to Collins...I'm pretty sure this cabinet photo you have was owned by him.

Posted By: Al C.risafulli
Oh, no, I wasn't being clear. I bought the cab from Hunt, but wasn't aware they had a slug of Collins memorabilia that he once owned.

I wanted to dig around and try and figure out where the photo came from and who took the shot, but to me, it adds even a little more excitement if the cab was potentially owned by Collins. I'll have to get in touch with Hunt and ask them.

Thanks for that info!

-All

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I think you can almost bet that this cabinet was owned by him since it is from his college days and it's probably a one of a kind or perhaps only a few were made for he and his family. Add that to the fact Hunt's auctioned off scrapbooks owned by Collins and his wife and it's probably a certaintly. I've noticed Hunt's likes to spread out their collections they get from one auction to the next...they had a nice group of items that belonged to Smokey Joe Wood that they auctioned off over the course of 2-3 auctions.

That really makes it a much cooler piece than I even thought it was, if it's the case.

-Al
