t206 Cobb Question
Posted By: Frank Wakefield
A bat off could be worth more if its back is Drum, Uzit, Broadleaf, or Red Hindu... or if it is in great shape. (Ha, 5 two letter words in a row!) Or, if the green portrait is ragged. Generally, Cobbs with bat off are encountered much more frequently than green portrait Cobbs. Mark has told you correctly.

t206 Cobb Question
Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I'm a bibliophile. I'd rather buy one guide a year and pay attention rather than subscribe to an online service. Online services can be manipulated, with 2 or 3 different identity sellers and a few shill buyers... I can look at a guide without getting online, or even near a computer. I have greater faith in a guide and my judgment than I have in an online service. I could go on... That is why for me.

t206 Cobb Question
Posted By: Bob Lemke
The 2008 Standard Catalog does show the green background lower than both bat/on and bat/off in NM, though it retains its superiority in EX and VG

The values shown are:
NM EX VG
Green background 9,000. 2,600. 1,400.
Red background 4,500. 1,600. 900.
Bat Off Shoulder 9,600. 2,300. 1,000.
Bat On Shoulder 9,300. 1,900. 800.

You'd have to ask the new editor, but could it be related to relative numbers of NM or better graded cards in the population reports (I no longer have access to that data).

t206 Cobb Question
Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Another factor which makes the GREEN Cobb tougher is the fact that the majority of them are PIEDMONT 150's;
and. most of these are invariably off-center to the top. Shown here to illustrate this are my two Green Cobb's.

The Green Cobb's with Sweet Cap back or Sovereign (really tough back to find) are usually centered.

T-Rex TED
