Card or not a card -?

Posted By: Misunderestimated
I recall some controversy about an item in the REA auction that was holdered (by PSA) and whether or not it was really a card in even the boradest sense and also whether it ought to be holdered.
What do people think about this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/1910-Notebook-Covers-Ty-Cobb-Detroit-SGC-20-1-of-1_W0QQitemZ300157907273QQihZ020QQcategoryZ57993QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I might add that SGC's designation of the item is such that there really shouldn't be much confusion and that they are fine in my book since they describe what it is. ALso, its really really nice.

Card or not a card -?

Posted By: Brett
I don't consider that a baseball card. its a notebook cover. I feel the same way about postcards. I don't know why people consider postcards as baseball cards... I mean "postcard" kind of gives it away. to me, all these things are things that happen to have a baseball player on them. I consider cards like t205s to be real baseball cards because they remind me of current cards. They have the players bio and stats on the back !

Card or not a card -?

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Didn't that notebook cover sell for like less than half that amount a couple weeks ago?

I've got some "Welcome Back Kotter" notebook covers from the early 70s; I wonder what they are worth now.

Posted By: davidcycleback
It's a notebook cover. Interestingly, I've never seen this particular notebook cover attached to a notebook.

I've seen one these in person, and the graphics are bright and attractive. They are color lithographs on blank backed paper. I think you could call them poor man's T3s, though the covers are rarer.
