T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: David B
As the only T206 cards I follow are Highlander/Yankee cards, I found this auction very odd. Ebay auction #230175095083. Sorry I do not know how to post a link. Am I missing something?

edited for spelling and thread title.

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: Dave F
I think this was just a case of two guys going after a card they know nothing about....not sure how you confuse this with the Boston variety..but even then this is wayyyy overpaying.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-T206-RED-KLEINOW-NY-CATCHING-PSA-VG-EX-4_W0QQitemZ230175095083QQihZ013QQcategoryZ31718QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: David B
At first I thought it was a case of mistaken card. But the card went $100+ of the overpriced Boston BIN versions on ebay. I can't figure it out.

Posted By: Scott L
Dave's
Did this one surprise you? Tough card. A board member bought so maybe he'll respond. He also bought a PSA 3 that closed last week.

http://cgi.ebay.com/T206-White-Border-JOE-DOYLE-N-Y-HandsAboveHead-PSA-4_W0QQitemZ300151627224QQihZ020QQcategoryZ57993QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: Dave F
If its a board member maybe they know something I dont. There is nothing hidden here...no peidmont fact 42 or anything weird. Maybe he just really didn't want the other guy bidding the card up high to get it....

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: David B
I realize that many of the T206 Yankee cards are undervalued. I beleive 4 of the top 10 T206's have Yankee "regular" cards. Elberfeld, Doyle, Demmitt and Kleinow. Are thier regular cards finally getting thier due? They don't come up as often as other commons.

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: Bobby Binder
Whoever bought it paid way to much for a card that comes around about once a month. Now that the seller got this kind of money sure we will see a lot more real soon. Guess there is some new blood in the T206 market that has no clue.

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: MVSNYC
i am very good friends with the buyer of the Kleinow...obviously he needed the card, what surprises me is that there was someone else who was willing to pay a lot for it, as well...?

p.s. i'm not surprised by the Doyle either, i know that buyer too, and obviously he needed that one...plus it is a very tuff common, for several reasons, discussed many times here...

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: Rich H.
Hey everyone, I was the one picking up the Doyle cards.
I think that this is an extremely tough common in all grades. I know that the pop reports show that these are not rare, but it has been only recently that I've seen so many come to auction.

I may have "overpaid" relative to historical prices, but I'm just happy to finally get a couple.

Rich
Posted By: Lee Behrens
Rich You missed this one, it looks as though you got a bit if a deal. It has amazed me how much these cards go for. I got mine in a lot so I didn't see a premium on mine bought a few years ago.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300154637352&ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020

Lee

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: Rich H.
Lee,

I actually was the underbidder on that sgc Doyle - what a beautiful card! I agree with Michael - probably could have been a 5 (60).

These Doyle's in grades 2-4 seem to only resurface sporadically (sometimes come to auction in clumps) like recently. However, I can't recall the last time I saw a 5+ graded Doyle auctioned.

Rich
T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: boxingbaseballgolf33
during the summer I auctioned one off on eBay and only got about 200.00, this seems to happen often with T206 cards were there are a few people that would like to have the card at the same time.

Jimmy

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: David B
So is the N.Y version actually scarcer than the Boston? I see the Boston on ebay all the time, but rarely see the N.Y..

T206 Kleinow Catching N.Y. PSA 4 $500+ ??
Posted By: Rich H.
Though traditional valuations may not indicate that the Kleinow NY catching is tougher than the Boston variation, I think that the NY catching is the toughest of the 3. They come up for auction less frequently, and is extremely difficult to find in high grade.

Just my $.02

Rich
