What is considered to be "Lefty" Groves rookie card?

Posted By: Brad Green

Richard:

Most people probably consider Lefty's 1926-29 postcard-back Exhibit to be his rookie card. Others probably would consider a card like the "1932" U. S. Caramel to be his rookie card. You have both cards, so why would you really care which one is his rookie card?

The U. S. Caramel's, however, were issued in 1933 -- not in 1932. That means that the 1933 Goudey is as much of a rookie card as the 1933 U. S. Caramel.

There was a discussion back in 2005 as to the issue year of the U. S. Caramels. Click the link below to read it.

September 2005 thread on U.
