How did Mem Lane get Gehrig psa 10??

Posted By: Rand Brotman
i just realized the psa 10 Gehrig in the auction is Charles Merkel's. Why of all auctions and with his connections go through Memory Lane with their reputation??

DESCRIPTION:
The ONLY PSA Gem Mint 10!
From the Collection of Charles Merkel
Member PSA Registry Hall of Fame

An Incredible Find!

(LOT 1)
1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig PSA 10 GEM MINT
Posted By: DR
My guess would be ML offered +10% to +20 commission and figured the card would be a great marketing tool and/or Mastro or REA refused to offer such favorable terms or positioning (marketing). The $25K - $40K additional might have made the difference. However, I would call ML an 'interesting' choice in lieu of recent / past revelations! It sure is a beautiful card but with the 55 - 45 and 60 - 40 (or so) centering a 9 MINT would have been more appropriate.

They may have given him the best deal for consignment. In the end, anyone who wants that card will bid on it regardless of who is auctioning it. It has been a known card in the hobby for years now.
JimB
