advice on selling complete t206 set
Posted By: bill latzko
am considering selling my complete(minus big 4 with demmitt and Ohara in psa 3 and psa 2)set , all in psa 4 but am debating whether to break it piecemeal on ebay, or try as a set on ebay, or auction house(delayed return), or best way to find a private buyer. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. It's the #18 set on the registry.

bill latzko

Posted By: Matt
If you have the time, then go on ebay - that will maximize your bottom line; however, staying on top of the auctions and trips to the post office and sorting out all the orders is time consuming.

Posted By: Eric B
Why not just put on Ebay as a set with a very high minimum bid? You know roughly what they are going for, just add up all the prices. If someone wanted it, they would save a TON on shipping charges. Plus I believe it would only cost $5 or so on Ebay fees. Add another $30 for Gallery. No sale, no big deal.

I am getting ready to do the same with 600/622 N224's at a min bid of $3,500.

Posted By: David Goff
You would get more money selling them individually on eBay, but dealing with shipping and PO will be a pain. What about doing the other auction houses. You would have a better chance selling the set as a whole that route.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
I sold my 1st T206 set (521 cards) intact....and, I broke up my 2nd set (520 cards).

I had a heck of a lot fun selling the set I broke up. And, it eased the pain.

Each time I took the money from selling these sets and bought more T206's so now I have an all-Piedmont
set (518 cards) and an all-Sovereign set (404 cards....need 6 more to be complete).

Might sound crazy, but it perpetuates the challenge....or better yet "the hunt".

BILL

My advice, having done both options, is BREAK-IT-UP....the sum of its parts is always greater than the whole.

TED Z

Posted By: anthony
bill, something to consider if you do split them up on ebay...

just state that you will only make 1 trip per week to the post office and that if payment isnt received before that particular day, then they buyer has to wait until the following week. it would give you time to package them all and force the buyer to pay you in a timely manner...

and to make things easier for you, maybe just list 50-100 per week, that would probably give you 25-40 buyers

Posted By: T206Collector
I sold about 400 of my 520 on Net54 last April in order to finance my purchase of Lionel Carter's Eddie Plank in Mastro. I love listing cards on ebay, but that was a lot of cards to list. So, I used VCP.com to determine values of cards and then listed them in chunks, with group and individual prices, right here on the B/S/T thread. The chunks were based on grade, HOF, SL, variation, etc. I had a lot of fun doing it, and it gives me some measure of comfort knowing the collector to whom most of them went.

I'd start here on B/S/T and then move to ebay if the prices you want are not being accepted here.

Good luck!
