Help: T206 w/ color issues

Posted By: Ray Piskadlo
I recently acquired this card in a group and was wondering what everyone thought. The yellow sky and green grass are barely visible. At first I thought it was faded from sunlight, but the blue of the jersey and flesh of his are quite vibrant. The card doesn't smell like bleach, I learned from here to check that. I also thought maybe a pencil eraser of some kind, but I don't see any streaks or changes in the texture of the card. Any ideas???

I'm guessing some sort of solvent was used with possibly a q-tip? I can't be that lucky to find a legit color mishap.

All thoughts as to how this card got this way are appreciated!
Best regards,
Ray Piskadlo

Posted By: jeff drum
Well I am certainly no expert on T206 or printing anomalies (sp? Barry) but the faded yellow seems to be streaked or almost have a rubbed look to it. Keep in mind that is thru 48 year old eyes as well.

Posted By: Ray Piskadlo
The fact that the borders seem to have lost their color in some spots and his arm with the glove as well add to my idea of altering. Has anyone here seen this done to a card? The card itself appears intact while the colors are "rubbed" out.

This is one of those where I don't need to see the card in person to make a determination.

Sorry, but this card has been altered...and a poor attempt at that.

Can you get a return?

Kevin Saucier

Posted By: Ray Piskadlo
Kevin,

Thanks. I was hoping for your input. Since I bought it as part of a group and the others are in good condition, I will keep it as filler for now. If I get an upgrade, I will make sure to fully disclose the card has been altered.

BTW, Kevin, do you know what chemical/solvent might have been used?

Thanks again,
Ray Piskadlo
