E270s
Posted By: Paul
Mastro's catalog states that there are only a couple of the E270 Joe Jacksons known. Are most E270s this rare, or is the Jackson just inexplicably rare?

E270s
Posted By: Wesley
E270s (both red borders and tin types) are much harder to find than regular Colgan Chips. I am not sure whether the Jackson is rarer compared to the other tin types.

E270s
Posted By: Phil Garry
I think the E270's are very scarce in general. At the time they were issued, I don't believe that Jackson was a superstar yet and some people may not have cherished/saved his E270's as they would for the bigger stars of the day.

E270s
Posted By: John S
Very difficult...either Tin Tops or Red Borders. The general opinion is that Tin Tops are the toughest of the two.

An average of three examples per card is probably low; but 10 to 20 might be realistic. I have no factual explanation to offer regarding the extreme rarity of the Jackson.

E270s
Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I have a Tin Top, and one or two Red Border cards... but I'd always thought them way to scarce to try to work on a set. So I'd pick up the occasional E254, and be content with my "type" cards.

Anyone here actually actively pursuing a set of Tin Tops or Red Border Colgans?

E270s
Posted By: John S
Frank,

I pick them up when I can, but unless someone discovers a bunch or the hobby uncovers a hoard I don't think that it could be done in a lifetime.

E270s
Posted By: Tom Boblitt
and the Red-Border E270's in set form......

I just sold a lot that included 7 Tin Tops and 20-25 Red Borders. From having tracked them for a long time on ebay, you see about 100 of the E254's for every 1-2 Red Border cards out there. You see WAY less Tin Tops. Not sure what the census of them would show but they are in conspicuously shorter supply than the Red Borders....
