Posted By: dan mckee
How can I subpoena my cell phone incoming calls for a 2 day period? Partly off topic as this is due to a missed call and deleted message for a possible card deal. My cell carrier (Sprint) told me I need a subpoena, can anyone here help? thanks dan

Posted By: dan mckee
That is what I thought but ALL incoming calls are blocked now due to the privacy act. They are not blocked when they come in, but they are blocked on my detailed list on my bill. I am in desperate need of assistance.

Posted By: Todd Schultz
you should not need a subpoena to access your own account records. Hell, I can go online everyday and see who has called me and who I have called (Verizon), and of course the monthly statements would give that same info, and most cell phones themselves show the last 10 calls or so. If the call rolled into voice mail it should be easily retrieveable information; if not, (such as a hangup before voice mail or pick up) then it probably can't be found period.

Subpoeanas generally require that a legal action be commenced, with a case number, etc.--a ridiculous notion in your circumstances. There are no privacy concerns here that prevent a provider from giving you your own account information absent a court order (subpoena). My guess is you got some dipstick on the phone that either misunderstood your inquiry or doesn't know what day it is. I'd try again, and play the unhappy customer card who demands service card.

Posted By: Mark T
You should be able to get your deleted calls if you want. If the Government wanted to know who calls you and who you call they can get it no problem...

I have At&t and they have a feature where even if you delted your call it saves it in a deleted file where you can still get it. (great idea)

This Patriot act is pure B/S

Posted By: dan mckee
My thoughts exactly! I tried 3 times and I can tell you that my detailed bills only state the word INCOMING instead of the phone numbers that came in. You are correct, I can't take it to a court order for this, there is really nothing wrong. I will try again Todd but I think the idiots on the other end can only see the same bill I see. Thanks Dan.

Posted By: leon
So even if a call coming in is "restricted" and we can't see the number we can still get it? I have never had to and hope I don't, just curious...

Posted By: dan mckee
I can't see my unrestricted ones, all incoming calls look like this on my details: 586 6/7 9:07PM INCOMING 1.0

Posted By: leon
Some of my calls come in as seeing the number "restricted"....but I guess different phone companies do different things.

Posted By: Eric
Sprint is stupid like that. Detailed bills only show "Incoming" and not the number that called, as Dan stated. Was the number restricted when they called you on your phone?

On my phone, I have a call log button. I can see every call placed and received, since I've owned the phone. I never delete the call log. I have over 2 years of numbers now, going all the way back to 1/10/05. My phone is a Treo 650 though, so there is no limit on history.

Sprint is junk, and as soon as my contract is up I'm leaving them. Customer service is a joke. They've gone completely down hill since their merger with Nextel. And when you threaten to leave, they say "Go ahead", knowing that if we cancel, it will cost us $600 in early termination fees. They are ars-holes

Posted By: dan mckee
Thanks Eric, I thought I was losing my mind! I do not have that log button that I know of, I have a cheap junker they gave me free with my last upgrade. I am hosed it seems, Dan.

Posted By: Eric
Hey Dan,

We have a cheapo free phone on our plan too. If you click on the menu button in the middle, you can bring up the "Call History" button. Maybe it's there? I don't know how many numbers it keeps, but if the call was fairly recent it might still be there. If you have trouble finding that, email me, and hopefully I can help.

-E
