Does Sotheby's auctions Authenticate the Items they sell?
Posted By: leon
While I understand what the question is I am not sure it's what I think it is. I am sure they are like any other auction house (well most) and authenticate through the major grading companies when it makes fiscal sense. If they have an E94 that is ex-mt I am sure you won't see it being sold raw.....not sure if that answers the question? I am also sure they stand behind everything they sell, unlike some others, or at least unlike some others until they are forced to ......regards

Posted By: davidcycleback
Sotheby's is reliable for baseball card authenticity. Past employees include Bill Mastro and Rob Lifson, and they currently do their US sports memorabilia auctions with SCP Auctions (Sports Cards Plus) which is a well known entity.

Does Sotheby's auctions Authenticate the Items they sell?
Posted By: JimB
David Kohler from Sportscardsplus - with whom Sotheby's is partnered for their sports stuff - has been a well-respected person in the hobby for more than 20 years. I would not worry about cards they are auctioning.
JimB
