Posted By: Scott Mosley
Thanks for posting the link...

Looks like the photo comes from the same source as those used in many of the Kalamazoo Bats cards of Phillies subjects.

Anyone know if this particular image of Casey, Bastian and the trainer is used in the Kalamazoo Bats set?

I seem to remember there is at least one card which depicts a trainer with one of the players but I don't think it was this image.

Scott

p.s - Here is the top link to the Spalding collection of images

http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchresult.cfm?parent_id=137159&word=&s=1&n otword=&d=&c=&f=&lWord=&lField=&sScope=&sLevel=&sL abel=&cols=4&snum=0

Posted By: barrysloate
It was great to go through the whole gallery. They have so many duplicates-in some cases eight or more identical examples- as well as multiple poses of the same player, it's too bad they don't deaccession some of it.

And if you want to see the best photograph in the whole collection, and in my opinion the most important baseball photograph in existence, go to page 45 and click on the photo of the 1860 Excelsiors. It's a mammoth plate salt print, with Jim Creighton holding the baseball.
