After 8 long years of searching, the search is over!!!!

Posted By: Bob
Thanks to Scott E. and Toby P. who graciously agreed to let me have this card. I will return the favor.
The entire 150 Series in SGC holders. Much, much harder than completing my 1909, 1910 (175s) and 1911 sets. What a relief!!!!!!!

Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)
Bob,

First of all I'd like to say CONGRATULATIONS! That must have been a pretty neat feeling when you finally had the card in your hand.

Would you mind if I steered this thread in a "common" direction? I was wondering what's the longest it's taken anybody to complete a prewar set?

I spent about 10+ years completeing a T201 set. I realize that the T201 set is the easiest of T cards sets to complete but I wasn't really concentrating on it. I'd just pick up odds and ends here and there. Then one day it was complete. Your Obak set is genuinely TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH!

Posted By: Bob
Thanks guys.
Peter- You are kidding me, right???? I must have put the fact I need one 1910 150 series Wolverton on the BST thread and also in the main 54 Board a zillion times and nary a nibble.
Dennis- Ebay enabled me to buy 3 or 4 but the large group I got I won from Seth a couple of years ago in one of his 19th Century auctions.
SGC promised me 3 years ago and then again 2 years ago in Chicago that they would be putting the set on their registry. Scott H. apologized at that National and was very nice about it and said they would get right on it, but it has yet to appear for some strange reason. The set is now complete, all in SGC holders and if you look at their registry you will see that it still isn't there. There is only one set listed and it is less than half completed and is a 175 set from Don Louchios. Thank God Don may have felt that even though he doesn't have either Wolverton that a 40 was too low and didn't go after it, because his pockets are huge. In any event, the bottom line is the card and the set are mine and whether it is registry listed or not, who cares? I know and now so do you
tbob

Posted By: peter ullman
not that it matters now...but...when I get home sat night I'll double check. I definitely have wolverton...was it in the 175 series as well? If not that's definitely it! Sorry Bob. I guess since I don't have too many obaks I must have ignored the posts.

pete in st thomas for now...and might I say the weathers dreamy!

Posted By: Scott Mosley
Hey Bob,

First and foremost, congratulations on obtaining that last card... I am starting to think that the T in TBob stands for Tenacious

As far as waiting for SGC to add a set to the registry, don't feel bad. I've been waiting (along with a couple of other collectors) for SGC to add a T205 Master Set entry so that I can enter in the rest of my T205 collection but to no avail.

It has been well over a year since I've asked about it and was told that it would be added. I know they've been working on the website some over the past several months but the progress has been slow. I'm still hopeful that one of these days they'll add it.

You certainly don't need the set on the registry to still get the full enjoyment out of your accomplishment!

Congratulations again and look forward to seeing you in Cleveland.

Scott

Posted By: Bob
Peter- if you decide to sell that card, I will tell you that I think it is the key card in the set, based on scarcity. The Big 4 of Willis, Griffin, McArdle and Mundorf (because of the different poses and coloration from the 175 series cards) will cost the most, but Wolverton is the key.
Unbelievable that someone from the board had this card and in pretty nice shape. You could have held me for ransom on this card.
Bob
