I believe it was the first card PSA graded as authentic. There was much more to that card then there is of that cobb, and what was there was in one piece. I believe it actually sold closer to 8k. I wish i had bought the card at the time. You could make a tidy profit in todays market.

If anything, it's a great conversation piece (the card, as well as the dinner)<br /><br />However, I really want to know how Chuck got that great photo for his My Ebay page.<br /><br />Max<br /><br />

Posted By: <b>Bryan</b><p>That was my card. Congrats on buying it Chuck.<br /><br />I had it framed and hung on my office wall for the past couple of years. It was a great reminder that even the most insignificant decisions today can have great implications tomorrow.<br /><br />The card does have incredible eye appeal. If nothing else just the fact that it is an original Cobb in two pieces draws your attention. Personally I think it was well bought at $50.<br /><br />As for getting it slabbed, not going to happen. I thought about it too. Problem is it would be very hard to keep one piece from sliding behind the other.<br /><br />Enjoy the card. It will be in the mail tomorrow.<br /><br />Bryan<br />

Posted By: <b>Mike</b><p>All right, I have been a lurker for a while now, but finally couldn't hold back any longer. <br /><br />I bet there is a great story behind this Cobb, that could go in its frame:<br /> - Once owned by a jilted girlfriend<br /> - From the personal collection of "Home Run" Baker<br /> - A magic trick gone horribly wrong<br /> - Mistakenly used with the original Polar Bear tobacco<br /> - The worst '80s trim job ever <br /><br />I actually think it is a pretty cool piece there, and at least it was described right on ebay. I have seen some ebay sellers that would have described it as "ex-mt! any scratches or blemishes are just the result of my scanner."<br /><br />Anyways, back to my lurking. Love the board, and the wealth of info and scans I get to enjoy from you guys.
