Posted By: <b>RayB</b><p>is a nice tool for entering cards to the set and a well appreciated resource.<br /><br />Humor me if this has been discussed before please. <br />I noticed that the Back Multipliers are not quite as currently accurate as some of the discussions here regarding Back rarity.<br />Anybody well heeled in the set and with Backs research experience care to take a stab at realigning these multipliers?<br />For instance Polar Bear and EPDG are both 1.3 multipliers. I would think based on some typical discussions here that PB would be more like 1.1 and EPDG would be more like 1.5 or 1.75.<br />Any basic thoughts?<br />Anybody willing to take a stab at the whole list of 40 Backs?<br />Maybe we can all come up with agreeable designations.<br /><br />I'll give it some thought and post here too.<br />RayB

I was thinking it was still a wee bit early, Jim & Ray, since <br />we're still waiting on the ultimate or at least penultimate results of Brown's SuperSet and Ted's continuing surveys on the various backs.<br />Still, if Ted or Scot or Bill or any one of the T206 scholars is ready to hazard a guess or 2,<br />I'd be eager to take notes!!!<br />all the best,<br /><br />Barry

Assuming a correlation between price and scarcity, one can back-out a rough theoretical backs multiplier from these percentages. Of course, there is NOT a perfect correlation between price and scarcity for several reasons, for example, some backs are more attractive than others, some people care about brands but do not care about factories, etc. Also, there is the emerging issue of "back only" multiplier versus "front/back" multiplier. That is, as the T206 knowledge continues to develop, I expect people will start caring less about the former and more about the latter. Imagine the following conversation in 2017: "Sure you have a Brown Hindu T. Jones (St. Louis), but I have a Piedmont 350 T. Jones (St. Louis), which is five times scarcer as a front/back combination!" Who then, owes whom a premium?<br /><br />Scot

The sample size for this backs study, which was a subset of a larger T206 study that I conducted, was 14,010. While this study was not large enough to yield precise data, hopefully these data will add some objectivity to the back premium discussion. My own view is that a premium should be assigned based on a hybrid of the Distinct Back data and the Brand data since some people collect distinct backs while others only collect brands.
