Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>In my last auction I had numerous HOfers including Cobb, Young, and Matty, with Sovereign backs, and while all did well I didn't sense that much of a premium. I think collectors focussed more on the players, less on the Sovereigns. Next to Piedmont and Sweet Cap, it might be the easiest back, or close to it.

Posted By: <b>Scot Reader</b><p><br />I would say that Sovereign typically commands a slight premium over Piedmont and Sweet Caporal; perhaps 10% for Sovereign 150 and 350 and 20% for Sovereign 460. I know that all other things being equal I would prefer any Sovereign back to a Piedmont (except Factory 42) and would be willing to pay a little more for it.

Posted By: <b>Dan Koochin</b><p>I've bought T206 lots many times in the past, usually a good <br />percentage of Sovereigns, from the US midwest a lot in 1980<br />would typically have at least 20% Sovereigns in a 100 card lot.<br />Usaully a good mix of 150s, 350s, 460 series. <br /><br />460 series are more difficult now, they carry a small premium<br />in value.<br /><br />Lots I purchased from the US midwest would also typically have<br />about 10% Polar Bear. My Cobb Bat Off was also a Polar Bear back.

I cannot explain this, however.<br /><br />TED Z

Posted By: <b>Ted Zanidakis</b><p>I appreciate your abstaining from bidding on Sovereign's and I reciprocate by not bidding on<br /> Carolina Brights.<br /><br />However, there are some "dufusses", or is it "dufi", that have been jacking-up the bidding on <br />these cards to crazy prices....and I'm referring to Vg (or less) cards, I just don't understand<br /><br />Here is some statistical data on T206 Sovereign cards that I've recently noted.......<br /><br />Typical T206 Ebay listing will have, at any given week, only 2% of total that are Sovereign's.<br />Example....currently there are 811 - T206's listed and only 18 of them have Sovereign backs.<br /><br />Two dealer inventories....1st - 220 cards yielded only 5 Sovereign's....2nd - 400+ cards had<br />only 7 Sovereign's.<br /><br />A recent T206 collection of 84 cards that I acquired had only 2 Sovereign's.<br /><br />They are tougher than most think....especially the 460 Series cards.<br /><br />TED Z
