I know that they are a few in the Colgans Chips series and some in the T210 Series 8.......can I get some help from you fellers with a list? Posted By: paulstrattonThe Montgomery in Series 4 is from the Virginia Valley League so I'm not sure they are the same place. I assume it's a smaller town in Virginia or West Virginia.

Posted By: Frank WakefieldMontgomery West Virginia, for the Series 4 T210s, gentlemen. Montgomery had a team in the Virginia Valley League in 1910. It was a Class D league. Teams were Huntington, Charleston, Point Pleasant, Ashland - Cattletsburg, Parkersburg, and Montgomery, who finished last with a 47 - 63 record. The league lasted only 1 season, 1910. John A Spinney and John C. Bond served as league presidents. Benny Kauff lead the league in batting and stolen bases for Parkersburg, hitting .336 and swiping 36 bases. Musta been difficult playing on those WV mountainsides.

Posted By: Frank WakefieldOk... the West Virginia stuff I recalled from reading. 1910 is the year of the cards, knew that. And I recalled Virgina Valley League, and it just had to be at the bottom rung of the minor league ladder, class D. The rest I got from The Encyclopedia of Minor League Baseball, by Johnson and Wolff. Mine is a 1993 edition, the first. It is quite dispensable if all you care about is the major leaguers, and big league stuff. Indispensable if you care about the minors, too. It doesn't cover EVERYTHING that happened, but does list cities that had teams, the leagues and when they existed, most of the standings, a few of the league leaders on occasion, and a few other interesting facts, interesting that is if you care at all about minor league baseball. An individual's baseball library would be incomplete, in my estimation, without this book. ABE and Alibris show a couple of copies, one somewhat expensive. And I appologize about the earlier post, I was in a "Monty Python"ish mood. Frank

They finished in 4th place, in an 8 team league. Carson c 86g 237ab 1sb .215avg Collins of 137g 501ab 24sb .241avg Demaree p 34g 81ab 1sb .148avg W13 - L15 Dobbs of 75g 248ab 12sb .217avg McLaurin of 141g 479ab 21sb .250avg Miller Patterson 2b 129g 453ab 25sb .245avg *also with Nashville Rhodes p 10g 20ab 1sb .200avg Schlitzer p 25g 57ab 3sb .140avg W7 - L11 Yerkes ss 141g 459ab 27sb .278avg I think Dobbs is John Dobbs, born in Chattanooga, who was in the majors 1901-1905, he was an outfielder. Seems plausable. McLaurin may be outfielder Ralph McLaurin, who was up for 8 games in 1908 with the Cardinals. Demaree could be pitcher Al Demaree who came up with the Giants in 1912, his last year in the majors was 1919. Rhodes could be Bob Rhoads who's in T206, last ml year was 1909. Or Charlie Rhodes, who pitched for the Cardinals and Reds in 1906, 1908 and 1909. Or it may well be someone else entirely... maybe look at the T206 card, and one of those Cardinals panographic team photos. Compare those images to the T210 card. Schlitzer might be Biff Schlitzer, of "a difficult E90-1" fame. Biff pitched for Mack's A's in 1908 and 1909. Was traded to the Red Sox midway into 1909. Then he's back up with Buffalo of the Federal League in 1914. ML lifetime 10-15. My 1992 Sports Americana Baseball Card Alphabetical Checklist by Dr. Beckett only shows E90-1 for Schlitzer... no mention of T210. But the good Doctor doesn't list T210 for Casey Stengel, either. I'm just certain this is the same guy. Yerkes may be Steve Yerkes, who played 2nd and short for the Red Sox, Pittsburg's federal team, and the Cubs. He played 1909, then 1911 - 1916. So 1910 in the Southern Association is plausable. When the Federal League players were absorbed the Cubs tried Yerkes at second, they'd lost Evers to Boston's Braves in 1914. An excellent source for minor league records is Ray Nemec, 1424 Heatherton Drive, Naperville, IL 60563. Ray is a true gentleman. For a mere $2, he will mail you the record of a player. Posted By: darylefor this info. The reason I'm interested in Chattanooga players is that I live like 30 minutes away. Matter of fact, I have drove to Chattanooga each of the last 3 days (mom was in hospital....shes home now.............doing OK). I used to go to several games a year back in the early 90s (Pokey Reese, Tim Costo, Wally Ritchie, etc, etc) Went to all but one of the "Jordan" games at hisoric Engel Stadium in '94. There was no place like Engel Stadium. You were like part of the game because you were so close to the action. I used to stand at the fence right at 1st base and could actually hear the coaches talking to the players on base and the players talking to each other during the game. I have a baseball (foul ball;-)) signed by th entire team from the 1994 season (players on the active roster on the date that it was auto'd) w/ all coaches, trainer, etc,etc. I actually asked one of the players that I had spoken to to take the ball with him into the dugout and into the clubhouse to get it signed by everyone and asked them to put their jersey number beside their auto......and they did. Neat item. Also managed to get a baseball signed by Jordan, but thats a different story of how I managed that as he would not hardly even look up as he left the field. I might dig it out and make a photo for you, if you really want to see it. I've not seen a game there, but have driven down a few times. Stayed at the Choo Choo, took kids to see the fish, and the Imax. Frank.

Posted By: daryleSure, shoot me a photo of the uniform. Sadly, Engel Stadium is no longer used by the Lookouts (think high-school tournaments, etc,etc.. are played there now) The Lookouts moved into their new stadium a few years ago. Haven't been to a game there......yet.
