New Paypal Scam
Posted By: Dave
One I haven't seen before.... just came in. It's a duplicate paypal receipt that looks exactly like the one you get when you pay for something. The font is a little off but otherwise it's a dead wringer.

I went to my paypal account (not linked through the e-mail) to make sure it was a phony and sure enough it was.

I've gotten a lot of scam e-mails but this one was the closest to the real deal I've seen in a while. Just thought I'd let everyone know to be on the look-out and be careful.
The address it came in on was service@paypal.com too...

I hate these bastards.

-Dave

New Paypal Scam
Posted By: barrysloate
I've gotten two emails in the past week from paypal stating that a third party was trying to break into my account. However, I haven't used paypal for anything recently so my account is around zero. Am I to assume this too is a scam? I didn't respond to either message.

New Paypal Scam
Posted By: Matt E.
I too have received several fake emails this week regarding my account. Remember to forward them to spoof@paypal.com so they can backtrack where they came from I hope.

You normally get a reply back from Paypal in just a few minutes stating it was a spoof.

New Paypal Scam
Posted By: David Smith
Harry,

Probably not.

If you take your mouse and move the cursor over a highlighted area or a "click here" button, at the bottom of your computer screen you should see a www address or some other info on where the E mail originated.

The scams I have seen lately have "MUJWEB" in them and end in ".RU" meaning they originated in Russia. So, unless you know someone who used to work for the KGB, the scammers are probably going to continue getting away with what they are doing.

David

New Paypal Scam
Posted By: Jay
Hello all,

There have been several Paypal and Ebay scams recently. They are starting to look more and more like the real deal. I still think that the best way to check is to look at who the email is addressed to. Both Paypal and Ebay have your real name, so can address the emails accordingly. Spoofs say: Dear Valued Member, Dear Customer, Dear User Name.

Regards and be careful,

Jay Kaplan
T206kid

New Paypal Scam
Posted By: barrysloate
Jay- that is exactly correct, but the emails I got had no salutation at all. That too suggests a scam to me.
