Posted By: <b>andrew white</b><p>I live and work not far from Great Lakes. Its right on Lake Michigan and thats the only reason I can come up with as to why they put a Naval base in Illinois! I think it might be one of only a few naval training bases left in the country.....at least thats my understanding. My Dad graduated from there in 1950 or 51.
