Posted By: <b>Todd Schultz</b><p>I am somewhat familiar with the Mrs. Sherlock's bread pins with the red borders, found in the SCD catalogue, but have not seen one of these before--I just won and received it:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/taslegal54/22mrssherkonetchy.jpg"> <br /><br />The SCD catalogue says the red borders were one of several sets put out by "the Toldeo bakery", but this one appears to have come from Rochester NY, at least the teeny tiny print near the rim seems to say so. Can anyone provide some info--it is actually smaller in circumference than a dime.<br />

Posted By: <b>Anonymous</b><p>Just because the tiny print says Rochester, it doesn't necessarily mean it was distributed there. It could have been made anywhere and distributed somewhere else. I tend to not always go by what it says is a manufacturing location.<br /><br />

Posted By: <b>fkw</b><p>Your Ed Konetchy pin is a 1922 PD5 Toledo Mud Hens pin. The 1922 set is numbered on the left. I have a few of the 1920 PD4 pins but none of the 1922 ones.

Posted By: <b>Todd Schultz</b><p>I was just ready to post that I found it in the back of the SCD book--what threw me is that it is a minor league set of Toledo players, and Konetchy was a major leaguer until 1922, so I looked in the wrong spot. Nice catch Frank.

Posted By: <b>fkw</b><p>The SCD calls it a PB5 but its really a PD5. "PD" for Bakery issue pin.<br /><br />Just looked it up, its on page 1754 (2007 SCD) but no pictures.<br /><br />IMO the 1922 pins like yours are scarcer than the similar 1920 pins.

Normal 7/8" buttons.....19 unnumbered pins with Bresnahan.<br /><br />PB5-2.....1922 Brown Printing Only and numbered.....like the NUMBERED Bresnahan pictured in this thread. Slightly smaller than the 7/8" buttons.....21 numbered pins with Bresnahan.<br /><br />1924 Red Major League Pins....10 pins with Cobb, Ruth, Wagner, Johnson and more.<br /><br />PB5-3....1933 Black & Red Printing.....18 pins with no big names.....I also have a pin with 'You tell 'em Mrs. Sherlock, you're well BRED' from the set.<br /><br />And there's the Kolb's pins that're kinda like the Mrs. Sherlocks.....32 in the set there with Chief Bender.

Posted By: <b>fkw</b><p>Hi Tom, is there a updated American Card Catalog numbering system for these and other pins?<br /><br />Your numbers make more sense, but the ACC lists some of these pins (others are not listed) and they use slightly different numbers.<br /><br />Your "PB" makes more sense, but the ACC has them as "PD" (sort of like the "D" for bakery card issues)<br /><br />The ACC I have has PD3 as Sherlocks and Kalbs grouped together.<br /><br />Is there an updated Pins Catalog or List that I dont know about?

Posted By: <b>Tom Boblitt</b><p>don't exactly know where I got those numbers......they may have been from Sports Collector's Bible or somewhere else....that's what I've always used for them as I'm about 1-2 pins away from all 5 of those sets (w/Kolbs).
