A student of mine brought in a PICTURE of a baseball card of W. L. Gardner from the American Caramel Company. Not sure what year. 1921???? or earlier???<br />It is a picture of HIS left side, he's in a throwing motion with his right arm extended and his left arm is straight down at his side. No color but shirt is dark with white stripe down the middle and pants are light colored. She has the card at home and I gave her a card holder to protect the card so no more damage will occur. <br /><br />But, I can't find anything on the Internet to help me with a value of the card for her. She said her grandfather had it in a BIBLE----and that's the only card they have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The card's borders left, right, and bottom are fine but the top 1/4 inch of the card appears sheared off. Lots of yellow/brown? discoloration evident. Please help with the approximate value? Thanks<br />

The card is probably worth $10-$30....here is one..<br /><br />edited to add that this is yet another mistake by a grading co...<br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1159496975.JPG">

Posted By: <b>Paul</b><p>Leon, your card is an E121, but labelled E122.<br /><br />For the benefit of bballdude, E121 cards look like the one Leon posted. E122s are similar, but the name at the bottom appears in a grey box. E126s were issued several years later (1927) and have a very shiny surface. The E126s also have a card number (between 1 and 60) on the front.

Posted By: <b>fkw</b><p><img src="http://members.aol.com/canofprimo/herpgardner.jpg"><br />If the card has a front like this one above (With the name below the photo) it is a E121. <br /><br /><br />If the first line on back ends in "eighty of the" it is a 1921 E121-80 Series<br /><br />If the first line on back ends in "eighty" it is a rarer variation back of the 1921 E121-80.<br /><br />If the first line on back ends in "120 of the" it is a 1922 E121-120 Series.<br /><br />Like others said, If the card has the players name in a grey box it is a E122.
