Pseudo E95 blank backs; a bit more info

Posted By: warshawlaw
Many of you may recall a lengthy discussion of a Cobb in the style of E95 but with his name in wavy print in the background of the image. At the time I pointed out a Jim Jeffries from the same set (in the style of E79) that I'd catalogued with a similar part of a candy store imprint on the back that appeared to be from a sheet. I labeled the Jeffries an E-Unc. in my book. I recently acquired one of the Jeffries cards, this one with a blank back, and can add a bit more to the dialogue. All the ones I've seen to date from this issue have no defined borders. The card I purchased is oversized and has defined borders printed in red. I will post an image when I get the *&%&& scanner working with the new computer. My guess based on the bodered card I just bought and the printed back cards we've seen in the past is that the issue was printed on a sheet and meant to be cut out, and thus would be best characterized as a W-Unc. issue with the ones that have the candy imprint classified as an advertising variation.
