how does one decide to sell
Posted By: anthony
sometime in the near future, i will be assigned the task of selling off a few cards from my collection, so with that in mind which of the following cards from my personal collection would you sell in order, keeping in mind that i (or you) want to keep the best for last. maybe a short sentence as to why your last is best. my sell order as of now would be the following:

1. t206 christy mathewson portrait psa 4
2. t206 cy young portrait psa 4
3. t206 ty cobb bat off sgc 50/4
4. t206 ty cobb bat on gai 4
5. t206 ty cobb red portrait psa 4
6. t206 walter johnson portrait psa 4
7. t206 ty cobb green portrait sgc 50/4

i think the johnson and cobb green portrait are on everyone's want list and can bring an increase in value faster than the rest
how does one decide to sell
Posted By: jay behrens
The biggest question is, why are you selling? Ig it is to generate a certain amount of cash, then sell the cards that you are less attached to first until you get to the dollar amount you are looking to generate. Hopefully, you can get to your goal before having to sell the Johnson and Cobb.

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home, I would be arrested. Since people will be going after them the hardest. When the underbidder loses, he may want to look at the other cards that you have and pick them up at a fraction of the cost then the amount he was willing to spend on the Cobb green since he has resources available then and he's money is not tied up on potentally winning the COBB green. By saving the best for last people are over looking your other auctions b/c there resources will be going after the very last auction you have listed.

If it was my auctions I would probably space the auctions out 5 min. apart

Posted By: Frank Evanov
First, I would sell them each a few days or a week apart. As a buyer, I like to limit myself to buying a few cards a week. Secondly, I would wait until May or June when the feeding frenzy from Mastro and REA subdsides and we all have some new funds. Third, I would save the Cobbs for last.

Frank

how does one decide to sell
Posted By: JimB
I would rank them in order of how much I like them personally. Since you have 4 Cobbs, I would probably start by selling my least favorite of the four since you will still have three others, that is, unless you see them as a set you don't want to break. But I am guessing you do not see them that way or they would not be in the list at all.
JimB

Posted By: joe brennan
Anthony, If you do decide to sell I would sell the Mathewson and Johnson portraits to me. . Seriously !! If you ever do decide I would be very interested in either one or both of them. Joe

A scared man can't gamble and a jealous man can't work.

how does one decide to sell
Posted By: anthony aka pete
actually, im going to be cashing in/down sizing my collection to my favorites...i've recently sold the young's, mathewson's, non portrait versions and currently have the non portrait version of walter johnson on ebay (not a plug) all of them were in PSA/SGC/GAI 4 grades. i'm thinking i'd keep the 4 cobbs as a mini set and sell the rest, i just didnt want to part with all of them at once...i have several other items on my wish list that the cards would pay for...

and joe, i of course will let everyone know when i'm ready to sell
