Posted By: Bill Todd
Does anyone know a source for finding names of team executives, etc. from the '30s? I have an all-parks pass for 1933, given to William Rodgers. The only Bill Rodgers I found in player lists were a Wilbur ("Raw Meat Bill"!), and a William who was born in 1922. My guess is that this guy must have been a club executive, or maybe a scout.

The previous owner said that Rodgers was the Washington manager, but I couldn't find any mention of him--and Cronin was mgr in 1933, of course.

Thanks for any help,

Bill

Posted By: Mike
I have a book covering all executives from 1933 for each team. I am not seeing anyone with that name. Nothing even close. But I will continue to look for you. The book also covers all players, managers, executives and every other baseball connection you can possibly imagine. If he's anybody, I will find him.

Posted By: Bill Stone
"Raw Meat" Rodgers was coaching the Portland Beavers in September 1928. He had a short major league career in 1915 and 1916 and I believe he was involved with the Kansas City team as Secretary and business manager in 1933. The stories were told that he always ordered and ate his steaks raw hence his nickname.

Posted By: Bill Stone
Yep that is "Raw Meat " Rodgers --a 1933 article in the Los Angeles Times says the Bill Rodgers was the coach of the Des Moines club in 1931 and 1932. The story was about E. Lee Keyser of Des Moines and Tris Speaker acquiring the Kansas City Blues. Bill Rodgers was to be an excutive with the club.
