Was this a major league record tonight? Slighty OT
Posted By: Bob
The Twins defeated the Yanks 6-5 in 9 innings and in doing so, left 20 men on base plus the guy who singled to win the game which would technically be 21. What is the record, this has to be close.

Posted By: john/z28jd
The Twins only left 10 guys on base. They didnt even have 20 base runners during the game, they had 19. 6 of them scored,2 were erased during double plays and Morneau doesnt count as left on base

Posted By: Ray
I didn't do any research to your .500 or better question but in recent history I can remember when John Olerud (Blue Jays 1B and one of the most under-rated hitters of all time) hit over .400 at least until the All-Star break. This was early 90's. Haven't seen that in awhile.

Was this a major league record tonight? Slighty OT
Posted By: Bob
My bad. The stats show Twins players left 20 men on base but that didn't mean 20 LOB. For instance, Hunter strikes out with 2 men on followed by Rondell "I am the worst DH in all of baseball" White who whiffs (he is hitting a solid 3 for 46), so that means he left 2 men on base, Hunter left 2 on base for a total of 4, etc. The actual total is 10 men left on as stated above...

Posted By: Brian
I believe Carew was something like 48 for 97 going into a Saturday game of the week. He didn't get to 50 for 100 though. I do remember watching the game.
