1909 Obaks

Posted By: fkw
Hi, I have a question for those Obak collectors. I see that in Lipsets book the set of 1909 Obaks was complete at 75 (known) cards. In the 2002 SCD Catalog the set was still complete at 75 cards. But then in the 2003 SCD Catalog the set was complete at 76 cards, one more card added (Ehman). Is this Ehman card considered scarcer than the others?? Are any of the cards in the T212-1 1909 Obaks considered scarcer.

Frank

1909 Obaks

Posted By: Mark Macrae
Frank........While 1909 Obaks are much more difficult to find than 1910 & 1911's, there do not appear to be any which were short printed. I have held in my hands both of the (known) uncut sheets of 1909 Obaks. Each sheet contains 76 cards ....19 cards in each of the four rows. None of the cards are duplicated on the sheet... That said, there are certainly players or poses which are higher in demand and that can have an effect on available cards. Accurate checklists for Obaks were defined by the late 60's / early 70's and somehow (Through typos ?) managed to get screwed up in many of the checklists published in the last 25 years.... For a comprehensive review of the Obaks in general, and CORRECT checklists, refer to VCBC, Issue 3. The checklist info is accurate. All of the cards which are listed are verified (mainly through my own collection).
