It got me to thinking about the scarcity issue between the two backs D359s come with, Williams baking and Rochester Baking. I have never really heard of one being tougher than the other so I would not be suprised if they were equal in terms of rarity but what does everyone else think ? Posted By: <b>anonymousdave</b><p>I've come across Williams Baking about 3 times more often than Rochester (in fact of the dozen i own only 3 are Rochester) . However this scarcity does not seem to play out in realized prices, which interestingly seems to be the case with d304 backs as well (save the Martens and Weber which DO seem to add a premium)....perhaps the few crazies chasing these 2 sets prefer to have consistent backs and this actually increases the demand for the easier ones.....perhaps they have become so darn hard to find with "any" back that the relative scarcity of the backs does not generate big pricing/value differences.<br />

Posted By: <b>Ben</b><p>I have D359's of Plank and Baker, both have the Rochester baking back. Go figure. From the small sampling that I've seen, neither back is exceedingly more rare than the other (although ANY d359 is very tough to come by).

Posted By: <b>Scott Mosley</b><p>I have one of each in my "Philly" type collection but I will agree with Dave on this one.<br /><br />In the last two years, I have seen Williams backs for sale at least twice as often as Rochester backs which, as others have pointed out, isn't necessarily saying a whole lot because NEITHER come up for sale too often.<br /><br />Scott

Posted By: <b>Brian Goldner</b><p>IMO, the Rochester Baking backs are tougher, though to what degree, i'm not certain.<br /><br />In any case, D-359's don't come around very often, but over the last 20 years or so, i've seen a few more with the Williams Baking reverse, than Rochester Baking.
