Who has C46's?

Posted By: Glenn
I'm not ready to move into another collecting area right now, but if I did I think would go for a C46 set. Does anyone here have a complete set? How many of the type-card collectors have an example? I'd love to see some pictures.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Glenn

Here we are again. I recently broke up a partial set of C46's. I have sold
quite a few; but, still have about a dozen.....including O'Hara.

Incidently, the Leaf BB set is a 1949 issue, period. I and many who collected
these in our youth know this for a fact. They were issued very early in the
spring of '49.

Posted By: robert a
Glenn,

I've collected these for a while, but they're becoming more and more difficult to track down unfortunately. It wouldn't be that difficult for you to locate one as a type though. They're not that expensive as of this minute.

Robert

Posted By: Tim Newcomb
Hi Glenn,

I have about two-thirds of them. I accumulated these easily in about six months in 2004, but then they dried up, and I doubt I've added five in the last year plus. Does this mean anything? Dunno--

Anyway, happy to correspond about them--

Tim

Posted By: robert a
Like Tim mentioned, these have really evaporated.

I'm not sure if someone's hoarding them or what? But, they were overlooked for a long time on ebay. Nobody really cared about them. So, of course, what happens when things aren't selling for a bunch. "I've got plenty of time to complete this set." Nope. It's kind of like M116. Man, those used to be cheap on ebay!

With the C46, our canadien neighbors must've been more respectful with their vintage cards, because the examples that I've run across are generally found in "aboot" VG condition...especially considering the dark borders which are pretty sensitive to wear.

Robert

Posted By: Mike Campbell
It's not for sale. Most of my focus is on Jimmie Foxx items, cards and anything else involving him. But......I do also keep my eye out for Black Sox items. That is kind of my second tier, in collectibles. I have a few Buck Weaver things. But at least for now, the Gandil's not for sale. But I will contact you if I change my mind.

Posted By: warshawlaw
I'd always wanted a HOFer from the set but never bothered, then saw a decent one on Ebay and snagged it for $39. I suppose now that the set has been "outed" here and at auction, I won't see that price again...
