T206 Bridwell Error ???

Posted By: Anonymous
well even if someone did write in pen or whatever, that means that there was no letters there originally. so technically, it is an error card becase all it would be is just "WELL" instead of "BRIDWELL"...

T206 Bridwell Error ???

Posted By: Lee Behrens
Sorry to rain on your parade, but the letters can be removed, and this looks fishy. If you put a card up here for judgement expect the bad with teh good. If you have already formed an opinion, why bother posting it? There might be someone out that might think it is some type of varition but my opinion is an altered card.

Lee

T206 Bridwell Error ???

Posted By: Dave
Here is a copy of the original post and a scan of a good card. These have been sized to be the same. It is interesting to me that the paterns of the extra ink above the Y in N.Y. are identical. I think this could be just a printer error, but one that would reduce value, not increase it. It also could have been someone trying to fill in the missing letters, which would make this marked, and much lower in value.
