How will this card grade?
Posted By: pete
(A little O/T but with permission)

The question of "why can't an altered card be graded?" was brought up the other day and many different opinions were given. I posted this card (with great obstacles) and now ask everyone their opinion as to how will this card grade? Answer A, B, or C with a brief reason/opinion.

A. Card should be given a numerical grade.

B. Card should get an Authentic grade only.

C. Card should not grade at all.

A brief story of the card goes, Juan Marichal was pitching against the Dodgers one day and got the win, my brother (10-11yrs at the time) was mad and spraypainted Juan's face. It has been sent off to SGC in hopes of getting put into a holder. Their response over the phone was that there shouldnt be a problem, but we'll see.

my best pitch was the one that made it to the plate!

How will this card grade?
Posted By: pete
that I am giving the card to my brother (as a joke) along with some other cards for Christmas. I thought it was funny to see that when I first started collecting cards for $ ('85) that my most expensive and oldest card was this one. My brother explained the reasoning behind it and just recently got back into collecting cards.

There is no other reason to keep this card than that, pure childhook flashback and a laugh. No one on this board can actually say, "I remember when I pulled this Ty Cobb out of a fresh pack of cigs" and not many of us can actully say, "my father or grandfather gave me these tobacco cards from when he was little"

I cant remember who here on the board has that little piece of tobacco card with just the name, but that's funny and I'd try to have it encased as well, I'm weird that way.

pete-

You'd have the LOWEST graded card in the population reports - that's got to be worth something in itself.

I think that what you're doing is a great idea. You're perserving a part of personal history - it's a great conversation piece.
