Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)
I suppose he means that if you were to crack the holder, remove the card, remove the paper remnant and clean the stain the card may come back as a 4 (or even higher). Sometimes those remnants come off pretty easy, but if they don't you're going to get stuck with a 1 or 2 (probably 2) because of the paper loss. If you were to wipe the stain clean with a little water then that really wouldn't count as altering the card. The use of chemicals may be frowned upon buy distilled water is usually acceptable. I suppose you could clean off the remnant and the stain and take your chances. Who knows, with the consistently inconsistent graders the card may come back as a 3 after all has been cleaned.

Posted By: Brian Daniels
on what you do or consider cleaning. if you take a nylon and rub it over a two dimensional fossilized bugger on the card that cracks off,I would say no one is going to have a problem with that.Distilled water, car wash, detergent, buffing and bondo-yes!

Posted By: T206Collector
...were cards that I removed paper residue from before submitting to SGC. I used water and QTips and the techniques described on this board periodically. The highest grade I ever got was an SGC 70/5.5, with a card that had half of its back covered in paper -- it came off quite easily with no residue and dried perfect. Nice card!

Thank you"

That means this card wont show up for sale for at least another decade or maybe even longer because he said its going back into.....http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-T206-John-Hummel-PSA-3-Scarce-RED-HINDU-back_W0QQitemZ8707630943QQcategoryZ31718QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: scott ingold
John,

Your correct, i should have pulled the trigger.Unfortunatly i did not. But hopefully it will come back up in a month or so when i am a bit more liquid.(still trying to recover from the fort show) But if not than i understand.
I have read many on the boards talk about removing stains from there cards but as of yet have not tried for fear of ruining what i already have. Actually i probably would not unless i was going to resell the card. Than I would give it a shot.

Posted By: john/z28jd
Scott,i was just joking. If you check the link i included mid-sentence you will see what Pete just said, this card which was supposed to be back in a long term collection and reduced for the last time, was immediately relisted by the seller for significantly less.So if you can afford it now and you really want it then you did yourself a favor by not bidding
