Posted By: scott ingold
Gai has about 4 times the cards up that sgc does. Is this the norm ? I have until now only dealt with Gai and psa. Now i only deal with gai because i got fed up with the inaccuracy of psa and all of the cust service bull. But as i was going through my cards it is becoming more evident that GAI is a much stricter grading co at least when it comes to the t cards. Does anyone else see this or is my dislike of psa coloring my opinon ?
And if this is the case then that is even more in favor of crossing to psa when it is time to sell.

Posted By: tbob
GAI is also (IMHO) a much stricter grader than PSA when it comes to caramel cards also. Their grading is almost every bit as tough on caramels as SGC.

Posted By: BcD
SGC is pretty slacked on 30-40-50 grade cards

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-T206-tobacco-Hal-Chase-SGC-60-EX-New-York_W0QQitemZ8704110067QQcategoryZ57993QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

then they tighten up on 60 grade + cards and seem more consistant there.

The above card would grade low end PSA 4. Don't know about GAI. The biggest difference in the two grading services,(SGC/PSA),is that PSA 4's usually do not have rounded corners. Many SGC 50 cards do! At the higher levels ALL three companies become more competitive with each other.

Posted By: barry arnold
i think GAI is much better than PSA in terms of grading rigor and
rate it comparable to SGC.
I use both SGC and GAI and am pleased with both.

I quit PSA completely a couple of years back, although i do bid on a PSA
every now and then on ebay so I can trade with Yawie

all the best,

barry

Posted By: scott ingold
Do you cross back to PSA for the bump + price increase ? I mean PSA does still get the $'s. Although i don't see the large spread like in the more moderns. Anyone else see this trend ?

Posted By: Darren J. Duet
I regularly find cards overgraded in PSA holders. I maybe have found an overgrade in an SGC holder, and have not found any in GAI holders. I refer to prewar cards, of course.

Posted By: scott ingold
for psa ? I know the answer but it just doesn't make sense. When i look at my cards {t206} most if not all when compared to the psa's would bump up at least 1 full grade going from gai to psa. I just never looked that closely before and must say i am rather suprised by the difference.
