"Baseball Card Magazine"

Posted By: robert a
I was reading Barry Sloate's article (nice article by the way Barry!) in an old VCBC on t206 and noticed that he referenced a Lipset article, "Tales of T206," from this mag.

Just curious if this magazine (Baseball Card Mag.)had a lot of vintage articles?
Anyone ever see any back issues floating around?
Thanks,
Robert

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
The article Barry is referring to (Tales of T-206) by Lew
Lipset is in the 1983 Spring Issue of Krause's BB Cards Mag.
It is a very interesting 5 - page article that includes an
additional 3 - page Checklist & Price Guide.

This issue also has an article by me titled "The Case of the
Mysterious 1949 Bowmans" (co-authored with Ralph Triplette).

And, this is why I am very familiar with this particular Mag.
In the late '70s and throughout the '80s, this Mag. was a fine
source of vintage information. But, not as good as VCBC. If
you can find old copies of The Trader Speaks (1970s - 1980s),
you will have some real good vintage articles to read.
Posted By: barrysloate
Lew's article in the Baseball Card Magazine is excellent, and the early issues have some other valuable vintage card articles. Ted and I became lifelong friends shortly after I read his 1949 Bowman article and for awhile I collected set after set of them. I wrote an article on T206 in an early issue of VCBC that's a good overview but doesn't go into the great detail that today's collectors expect.
