Regrade and Old Judge question

Posted By: Bryan Long
I am going to put two questions in one to hopefully make things easier for everyone.

1. Has anyone tried to the experiment to crack a card out of the holder and resend it back to the same company to get graded again and have a positive outcome? I have a nice looking SGC 20 that I think should be at least a 30. The card was graded quite some time ago and I was thinking about cracking it out and sending it in again. The card would bring at least a few hundred more if it came back a 30 instead of a 20. Has anyone done this a regular basis to give me an idea if the experiment is worth the risk?

2. I am not an expert when it comes to Old Judge cards by any means. I know that trimmed and skinned old judge cards obviously command much less in price, but would a trimmed/skinned Browns Champion Commisky still sell for a few hundred dollars even in that condition? I'm not sure if that is rare card. I assume it is highly collected being Commisky from a subset of the old judge cards, but would it still command a decent price do you think? The reason I am asking this is that I have found a friend of a friend that has a few pre-war cards including this old judge, a mayo Duffy and pretty good shape and a few other cards and I am looking at a possible selling price that would be a decent deal for both of us. I'm not sure what else he has up to this point but I know that there is an e96 PSA 5 Mordecai Brown - but other than those three I'm not sure what else yet.

Thanks in adavance for any help.

If the trimming included all borders and ad removal then to me it's really lost a lot of value. You could throw it up on ebay and take your chances but a few hundred bucks might be a stretch.
