I dont like the top at all, but it is agreat looking card. Need help from someone ore knowledgeable than I.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5237247555

Moral Values " What would you do if no one was looking? Posted By: T206Collector
...but this card has most certainly been trimmed. The issue I have is with the color of the lettering, which should be more brownish than black. But the font looks okay. Again, the problem with this card is that it has been trimmed -- no doubts about that.

Posted By: Shannon
If the card is indeed trimmed than it is already way to high, I just picked up a T207 Chance PSA 5 (MK) fairly cheap as opposed to what it would cost. By the way Patrick if your reading thanks for the card, too bad it has writing on the back but still a very nice card

Posted By: T206Collector
Trimmed as a new hair cut. So now this guy is trying to flip the card because he took one look and knew it was trimmed, only he doesn't want to admit as such. And putting a ruler next to it or saying it measures out doesn't cut it, pun intended. Oversized T206 cards have been particularly susceptible to trimming, because you can shave the corners sharp and keep the card within its normal height, width limits.

Posted By: joe brennan
At least the original seller listed the card as eve of trim from SGC. This may have been the new sellers ploy all along. Pick up a trimmed card, not mention it and flip it for a profit. Shoulda waited 30+ days and his purchase wouldnt show. Pretty shady if you ask me.

Moral Values " What would you do if no one was looking? Only you would know" Instilled in me by James W. Brennan Sr.

Posted By: davidcycleback
The seller says "Looks like a PSA9" and quotes SMR at $13,000. If he beleived his own description, the card would be in a PSA holder not raw. Ask yourself, what would be this seller's justification for throwing away $10,000+. Is the $8 grader's fee too steep?

Posted By: steve k
The seller cleverly displays a ruler up against the card. But evidence of trimming doesn't always have to do with the size of the card - it can also mean that the corners have been "doctored" to try and sharpen them up. That bottom right corner has definitely been doctored.

Posted By: john
I agree with Joe Brennan. Why are people taking shots at the original Seller when he listed the card as having evidence of trimming. The original seller probably had the hopeful opinion it was not trimmed and provided not only his opinion, but more importantly, SGC's. The actions of the second seller, and not the original seller, should be the focus of this thread.

Posted By: joe brennan
I agree Nicky. I clearly stated in my post that you were forth right with SGC's opinion that it was trimmed. My beef is with the seller now, as he has omitted SGC's findings and selling it without the proper discription to take advantage of the next buyer.

Moral Values " What would you do if no one was looking? I'm not trying to be Clever in any way I stated the FACT on the card, that it was trimmed Thank You >>>

My post stands as stated. "Evidence of Trimming" can mean doctored corners, not just trimmed edges. Doctored corners many times do not affect the size of the card. So in my view you revealed SOME of the facts, but not ALL of the facts. If so concerned about your "integrity" then next time doing an auction similar to this, how about revealing all of the facts?
Posted By: steve k
<<< If the corners were rebuilt, it would not come back EVID TRIM, it would come back ALTERED. >>>

That is correct but if it was just taking say an exacto knife to a corner, that would come back as trimmed. If a ding is dipped in water and flattened out and because it got flattened out and became thinner than the rest of the card, the corner would extend beyond a normal corner, then a scissors or other cutting tool is used to square it...that is trimming. "Altered" would be adding paper stock to the corner as well as doing other things such as coloring. But "altered" and "trimming" could sometimes be synonymous and I'm not going to argue semantics.

Hey Nicky - I'm not looking to browbeat a member of this forum over an ebay auction. But I call 'em as I see 'em. Judging from your response, you fully believe that your intentions were good and that of course should be respected. But even good intentions can turn out to be incorrect and in my view it was incorrect to focus only on the edges (card size) when the corners could have and from looking at the bottom right corner of the scan (and probably also the top left corner) possibly was the reason for SGC not grading the card.

I have openly stated before that grading companies should give a bit more detailed explanation of the reason for grading rejection other than just a few quick buzzwords.

Steve
