Posted By: <b>identify7</b><p>Lets say for an important card.<br /><br />An example of a low condition card which could be used as a reference is the Radbourne currently offered on eBay.<br /><br />This card is recognizable regarding:<br />Card manufacturer<br />Year of issue<br />Player portrayed<br /><br />What more do you really need?<br /><br />Suppose the reference example was a unique card - would your criteria change?

Posted By: <b>bob</b><p>My rule has always been - would his mother recognize him? Creases, holes, missing borders are ok but as long as the player is recognizable I'm ok with it.<br /><br />I suspect my standards are lower than most board members.

But if you know what the card is supposed to look like - then looking at this beat-up example probably makes it a bit easier.<br /><br />When cards are rare to find in any condition - sometimes you take what you can when you can, not knowing when and if another opportunity may arise.

Posted By: <b>Judge Dred (Fred)</b><p>There's nothing wrong with a filler card. It's a personal choice. If you can live with it then that's great. The Radbourn mentioned is very condition challenged (trimmed, light image, etc). But, if want a card of the pitcher with the most wins in a season and you don't want to spend a grand on it then this could be a low cost alternative. It's still a card, kind of.....

The custom die-cuts in my collection are some of my favorite cards.<br /><br />Jay<br><br>My place is full of valuable, worthless junk.
