Greiners Bread Cards -- Type Card Question...

Posted By: RobertS
Did we ever get any answers as to whether or not these 1928 Greiners Bread cards exist?

There were a few posts on this a while back, speculating SCD manufactured this listing out of whole cloth and inserted this set into the big guide merely to test if their listings were being ripped off.

Here is a link to one of these posts:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=153652&messageid=1071025085&lp=107 1073838

Just asking if anyone has ever seen one of these and/or if Bob Lemke ever responded on this topic...
Greiners Bread Cards -- Type Card Question...

Posted By: RobertS
What made me think of this topic again is an article this week about Encyclopedias and Dictionaries including fake entries for this purpose.

Here's the link: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/articles/050829ta_talk_alford

More importantly, has anyone ever seen a Greiners Bread card? If so, have an image to post?

Also, no picture in the SCD.

Greiners Bread Cards -- Type Card Question...

Posted By: Bob Lemke
would have been that since the listing has no picture, it came from Larry Fritsch, who usually sends photocopies for verification but not of a quality suitable for reproduction. I just called Larry and he said it wasn't him. We did add an introductory paragraph to the Griener's Bread set for the 2006 book that said it parallels W502. My other guess would have been Leon, but he has disclaimed that, and always lets me steal his pictures when he posts something new. So, I can't provide an origin for the listing. I can say, however, that it was NOT a plant. As Adam said, you can't copyright data, just the form of its presentation. I just OK'd the page proofs for the 2006 book so it is on press and should be shipping about Sept. 12.
