Posted By: <b>Scot</b><p> I have two Glass Lantern Slides measuring 3 1/4" X 4". The first slide shows Honus Wagner on his 41st birthday (1915) still playing short for the Pirates. The other slide shows five players Gehrig, Ruth, Eddie Collins? Unknown? and Mickey Cochrane? Date Unknown?. Can anybody identify the players and date with question marks?<img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1122962213.JPG"> <img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1122962256.JPG">

Posted By: <b>davidcycleback</b><p>For collectors, glass negatives and slides are easy to authenticate as vintage, as only the old were made of glass. Modern slides and negatives use plastic film. Offhand, I'd say the Ruth slide is from the 1920s.

Posted By: <b>Greg Ecklund</b><p>The guy to the right of Ruth doesn't look like Eddie Collins to me - I'm almost certain that it is an older Lefty Grove. <br /><br />The bottom right is definitely not Mickey Cochrane...looks more like a playing days Casey Stengel, but I'm not sure on that one.<br /><br />Anyone know who is on the bottom left? I recognize the face but can't think of a name right now.

Posted By: <b>Scot</b><p> O.K., We have the date at Mid to late 1920's. We have pictured Gehrig, Ruth, Grove, unknown? and unknown?. Bret Boone, 80 years to late? I've heard Tris Speaker -Left, Pie Traynor- Left, Mickey Cochrane- Right but, just a guess. Anymore thoughts?

Posted By: <b>Brad Green</b><p><br /><br />The top right is definitely Grove, as others have mentioned. But, it does look like an older Grove picture. Lefty was traded from the Athletics to the Red Sox after the 1933 season. I would say that the picture shows him wearing a Boston Red Sox hat, but I can't be 100% sure. I will check my Grove pictures, but I don't think I have this one. If I do, then it might show for sure whether or not it's a Red Sox hat as opposed to an Athletics hat.<br /><br />Based on Lefty's face alone, I would say that the picture was taken in the 1937-38 timeframe.<br /><br /><br /><br />
