Some of them don't seem all that bad, while others seem really bad. <br /><br />I picked up two cards the last couple of days. Posted By: <b>Judge Dred</b><p>You did really well with those pick-ups. Those aren't that far OC. You could possibly crack the Klein slab and resubmit it and possibly get the grade without the OC qualifier. In any case nice cards.

Posted By: <b>cmoking</b><p>I guess it is possible the back is badly oc, but I can't recall seeing any of the Goudeys having badly oc'd backs. Even the OC cards that I do have, the backs always seem fine.

Posted By: <b>cmoking</b><p>Anson, how do you think SGC handles oc'd cards? If they are oc'd by as much as the ones I linked, how much lower would they take it down given the centering alone. For example, say SGC thinks the Klein is a SGC 84 / 7 before they look at the centering. How much would the card be after they consider the centering?

Posted By: <b>dan mckee</b><p>OC never bothered me as you can tell when looking at many of my sets I built in the 70s and 80s. I was more interested in nice corners and registration. Your Klein looks a tad short top to bottom and the other card should have the same miscut at the top that it has on the bottom. Dan.

If the card is not centered 70/30, then in most cases its not going to grade out at an 84 (7) regardless of what the rest of the looks like. The exception being that tolerances are allowed for centering but must be within 5% of the standard and it must not detract from the overall eye-appeal of the card. Back centering is less critical than front centering and a tolerance of upto 10% in excess of the front standard is allowed. Posted By: <b>warshawlaw</b><p>esp. when they are otherwise sharp and nice. A card that PSA would rate an 8 or 9 o/c if the centering is no worse than 70:30 will pull an SGC 84 or 86. I've got a few like that. I may cross over a few more.

Even if super rich I would never pay these stratosphere prices for these high grade cards I just don’t think its worth it in my mind, give me a nice EX any day.<br /><br />But that’s just me.<br /><br /><img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn3/smileys/websize/image006.jpg"> <img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/piojohn3/smileys/websize/needham.jpg"><br /><br /><br />My only expensive graded “common” T206 purchase was a card from the Harris collection and its probably trimmed. Posted By: <b>Chris Counts</b><p>I am puzzled by what seems to me to be an overemphasis on centering. Some of my favorite cards are off-centered. I guess I should be thankful because I've been able to pick up cards for as little as 20% of value because of "faulty" centering. Diamond cuts are a bit more troublesome ... I almost get dizzy looking at them. But a typical OC is fine by me. I often add "OC" to eBay searches in broad categories (like "193* OC," for instance) just to see what pops up. I've also picked up cards that could have been 6s and 7s that were marked 3s and 4s without a qualifier because of centering issues.<br /><br />By the way, I love the Lajoie with a "2." I'm wondering if this is the nicest "2" out there. Even the writing on the back is done tastefully. The Pipgras, though, looks short.

I find it mind numbing how a card grader can grade piles and piles of cards and determine what's trimmed and what's mis-cut and what's o/c and how off to the left/right or top/bottom allows for an added qualifier. Sweet cards though. As a person that is quite particular to what T206's I own for my set, I would be proud to include those examples into my collection.<br /><br />DJ
