Posted By: <b>john/z28jd</b><p>I have an autograph from about as obscure player as possible, Bud Heine,who played one game with the Giants in 1921,the last game of the season(october 2nd,2nd game of DH).I wrote the Hall of Fame research dept. asking some questions and they sent me a boxscore from the game from their library.According to their boxscore he had 1 assist and no putouts,but according to every internet source(retrosheet,baseball-reference,baseball-almanac) he had 2 assists and 1 putout.Anyone have a source for boxscores that disputes(or proves obviously) one of these sources.<br /> <br />I thinks its weird a guy who played 6 innings career either had his only boxscore wrong or forever has been wrong according to encyclopedias<br /> <br /><br />Its interesting to see the boxscores from these games,Heine replaced Dave Bancroft in his only game in the 2nd game of a doubleheader.In the first game a guy named Hank Schreiber replaced Johnny Rawlings as a defensive replacement and made an error to lose a game.Shouldnt they have known a guy named Rawlings would one day have a gold glove award named after him!

Posted By: <b>john/z28jd</b><p>Heine went 0-2 in his only game.He was only 20 years old at the time so im assuming he didnt think this would be his last and only game by a longshot<br /><br />I got the autograph from a large collection belonging to a man who wrote former major leaguers for years.I dont know the exact number he had but it was well over 1000 different players.I bought them off of David Rudd who was kind enough to look for some of the more obscure players for me.<br /><br />I also have Ty Pickup who went 1-1 in his only game for the Phillies back in 1915 and owns the highest career lifetime average.Art Merewether who was 0-1 career in 1 game as a PH for the Pirates in 1922(age 19).Lou Vedder who pitched 2 innings and retired all 6 batters he faced for the Tigers in 1920,his only game<br /><br />The only scan i have is too big for the forum but if someone wants to see them email me.Heine was of particular interest to me because the Giants were World Champs that year<br /><br />

These "Day by days" were calculated by ICI (Information Concept International) in 1969 by looking at previous newspaper publications. I do not know what sources the online sites you mentioned used to calculate their statistics, but the League Official Averages are recognized as being an authoritative source. You may want to try emailing the online sites that you have found his statistics at and tell them about this information and/or ask them what sources they used to calculate his statistics.
