Question about a graded Mayo

Posted By: David Seaborn
I'm soliciting comments about some graded Mayos out there for sale. Seems to me quite clearly that this image has been 'edited'. There are a few others on eBay right now as well but this, to me, is the most questionable example. What's going on here with this seller?

Question about a graded Mayo

Posted By: Anson
Hard to say from the scan. Are you guessing that it was artistically cleaned up? It does seem a little dark

Question about a graded Mayo

Posted By: jay behrens
Definately backlit. I'm no expert on SGC flips, but something looks very wrong with it. Namely the white boarder around the green. None of SGC have it. Also, the insert is way too big for this card. Another diserting feature is the corners of this card look very sharp and the upper corners appear very glossy. I'm guessing someone someone took an insert, a reprint and mamde a flip. Then took a picture of it. You can't seen the plastic slab at all.

Jay

My place is full of valuable, worthless junk.

Question about a graded Mayo

Posted By: petecld
It is IMPOSSIBLE for light to affect a SGC holder, especially like that around the label. Stay as far from those auctions as you can. Photoshop software in the wrong hands is a dangerous thing.

That graphic is 100%...no, 1,000% fake.

Question about a graded Mayo

Posted By: David Seaborn
I agree with Pete. Just look at the left border of the card. You can see where a digital image (lighter color, perfectly straight line) appears to have been placed on top of the image of the original card (the darker color toward the outside). That seems to be the case regardless of the odd use of light. The odd thing is that each May offered for sale by this seller is 'picuterd' in an SGC holder, and a quick cross check shows these grades all match the SGC population report. It all seems very shady to me. Just my $0.02 though. Dave
