A little board upkeep and some thoughts
Posted By: leon
Hey folks,
There have been 3 specific issues that I have given much thought to lately and I want to quickly address them. There is no need for responses but I won't lock the thread because ya never know.....

1. Auction house, or auction threads, being discussed when close to an auction end. This can include ebay listings too. There was a recent sentiment about not allowing these things to be discussed, at least when close to the auction/ebay end. While I do think that posting about stuff will DEFINITELY keep you from getting a great deal, and after just a little thought I agree (personally) they shouldn't be "outted", I am not going to moderate it. If there are blatant signs of people selling things then trying to get more publicity on the main page then I will handle those on a case by case basis.

2. Anonymity. I gave thought to allowing posters, in those controversial or confrontational threads, to just let the moderator(s) know who they are. I am going to pass on that and leave the rules the way they are. You need to have a first and last name on those posts. You can read the Forum Faq's to see the current rules.

3. Off topic stuff. While I agree that too much can be bad for the board's focus I do think a lot of the recent banter also makes for a more tight knit family. I will caution everyone that if you see 4 off topic threads in a row please don't go start another one. This board should be primarily about vintage baseball cards. With that being said I ALWAYS think to myself " Do I really need to moderate this?" If at all possible I let stuff go as I don't like censorship.

I hope these few small housekeeping items help clarify my feelings (and other moderator's feelings, for the most part) on these subjects.....regards ..moderator dude

and a Ferguson's Bakery Joe Wood to boot
