Posted By: tbob
Kind of makes you scratch your head- one sale on ebay in the last 2 years, no vintage or even modern card sales judging from the feedback, and he comes up with the 4th rarest T206?

PSA T206 Magie error - legit?
Posted By: Damian
of the letters on the label look thinner than my PSA labels, but maybe its the scan. Also isn't $2100 for B.I.N way cheap for this card?

Posted By: DJ
The price scares the HELL out of me.

Why hasn't anyone BIN'd a tough card at pretty much 30-40% of what it's really worth?

I would honestly (showing my ignorance) have probably BIN'd it if the price was $4K, not half that and would probably show it off in a future VBC edition of 'new purchases' with pride.

For now, I'll stay away and remain in my safety zone.

DJ

PSA T206 Magie error - legit?
Posted By: John
Card is real, case looks ok too me. I also think the BIN and starting price is about right and not under priced. If you were going to spend 4k I would buy a card like this over this PSA 1. As far as the seller I have no idea.

http://search.sothebys.com/jsps/live/lot/LotDetail.jsp?lot_id=4FRHT
PSA T206 Magie error - legit?
Posted By: Paul
A question from a "Magie" novice (me): The type at the bottom looks proportionally spaced. In other words, an "I" takes up less space than an "E." If I tried to alter a "MAGEE" to make it into a "MAGIE", I think there would be a lot of extra white space around the "I". I don't see the extra white spacing on this card.

Is this a simple way to detect an altered Magie? Or am I missing something? (And yes, I know one of the main issues with this particular card is whether the seller actually owns it).

PSA T206 Magie error - legit?
Posted By: DJ
I think the card looks fine and I have no problem with the authenticity of it. In this world of collecting skepticism, it seems like you place any card (graded or ungraded) in this Forum, there will be mixed opinions.

Trimmed. Authentic. Over and/or Under-Graded.

I still think it's low on what it should sell for. The multiplier has it at $3,600 and I remember seeing a hammered copy (a little less of a grade than this) sell to a collecting colleague for $3,750 at the National last year.

Does anyone else think $2,100 is low?

In a collecting age where a PSA9 T206 will garner $800+, there is no interest as of yet to pull the trigger on this difficult issue.

DJ

Posted By: scott ingold
Some will remember i sold a gai Magie graded poor about 6 months ago on ebay. If memory serve's it went for 2200.00
and was not as nice as this one in the PSA case. To refresh
it had a damaged bottom area just below the name which caused some ?'s.

If the seller was someone anybody knew or i could escrow i would jump all over this one. Has anyone emailed the seller about escrow ? JMO, but i think a fair bin would be in the 3k range.

scott
